Rumor: iPhone 5 to be released September 7th

Will the iPhone 5 drop in September preloaded with iOS 5?

International Business Times (IBT) is not only predicting the next iPhone will launch this fall (a likely guess) but they are giving an exact date. That date is September 7th, 2011. Whether or not it will be called the iPhone 5 or iPhone 4s or some other name is uncertain.

Though they list the date, it seems they simply picked that day as it falls upon the first week in September and coincides with sources who say it will be released that week. They also do not list any sources, simply stating that many blog sites are reporting this fact.

There’s been much speculation on when the next iPhone will launch and whether it will be a new design or simply a minor modification and processor speedbump, much like the transition from the 3G to 3GS. Recent rumors have claimed it will have a slightly larger display and an upgraded dual core A5 chip like the iPad 2 while retaining the similar form factor as the iPhone 4.

One would expect it to launch with iOS 5, and Steve Jobs mentioned at WWDC that iOS 5 will launch this fall.
